Trick or Treat on Main Street

The annual “Trick or Treat on Main Street” in Willimantic will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Main Street area merchants and businesses distribute candy to children for a safe and fun Halloween.  Main Street will be closed at this time. Student arrested for threats made on Internet sites

STORRS — University of Con-necticut police made a fourth arrest in their continuing investigation of the stabbing death of football star Jasper Howard.
UConn student Christopher J. Mutchler, 18, of 392 Highland St., Wethersfield, was arrested Thursday for “empty threats” he wrote on various web sites.

Finance officials OK funds for center

The board of finance has authorized the payment of up to $25,000 for planning and design funds to study senior center options.

DEP mandates noise rule revisions

A noise ordinance that required state Department of Environmental Protection approval has been sent back to the town, with the state saying it needs revisions.
Changes recommended for the noise ordinance include removing some portions of the ordinance, while the DEP requires changing the language in others.

The attorney representing a suspect in the Jasper Howard murder probe said late this morning his client will be charged with killing the University of Connecticut football star.

Man critical after car hits him

City police are still investigating a Saturday night car-versus-pedestrian accident that left a local man in critical condition.
Willimantic Police Lt. Mary Beth Curtis said the accident occurred just after 8:06 p.m. on Main Street (Route 14) near Mayo Street.
